Known as one of the most picturesque harbour towns in Europe, and deserved winner of an ‘RHS Britain in Bloom best coastal town' award, Guernsey’s capital, St. Peter Port, is full of character and charm. If you are arriving to the island by boat, be sure to admire the staggering skyline as you approach. You will also pass Castle Cornet, which has been standing guard of the town for over 800 years and now houses a number of museums, period gardens and, at selected times during the year, musical and theatrical performances. The quaint cobbled highstreet is lined with intriguing boutiques, and cafes and restaurants serving fresh local seafood. Other picks include the beautiful Town Church, the historic Candie Gardens and finally Hauteville House, where French writer Victor Hugo penned some of his classic work.
